What to Expect During and After Your SkinTyte® Treatment
SkinTyte® is a non-invasive treatment that uses advanced infrared light technology to improve the appearance of loose skin. The procedure can be effective anywhere on the body, on any skin type, and on all skin tones. SkinTyte® can help tackle issues resulting from skin laxity: fine lines and wrinkles, mild sagging in the jaw, abdominal skin crinkles and more! Unlike surgery and other non-invasive treatments, there are no downtime, pain or side effects.
If you are looking for a non-surgical solution forto sagging skin that has lost its elasticity and want to try out SkinTyte®, here is a quick primer that explains what you can expect during, and after, this revolutionary treatment.
About SkinTyte®
SkinTyte® is a non-invasive treatment developed by Sciton and is powered by the company’s BBL® HERO™, a system designed to treat visible signs of aging using BroadBand Light (BBL) technology. The SkinTyte® handpiece emits light in the infrared range and includes different filters for treatment customization.
SkinTyte® can help reduce the appearance of:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Enlarged pores and scars
- Sagging facial skin
- Jowls and neck sagging
- Abdominal skin laxity
- Upper arm skin sagging
The treatment works by delivering infrared energy via broadband light just below the skin’s surface. This causes controlled heating of the dermis, which triggers collagen remodeling and results in firmer skin over time. Sapphire tip cooling before and after each pulse helps keep the surface of the skin at a comfortable temperature, minimizing pain and reducing the risk of injury.
What Sets SkinTyte® Apart from the Competition
SkinTyte® is one of many light-based treatments that holds promise to reduce the appearance of crepey skin. Other similar treatments include RF skin tightening, Ultherapy and BBL therapy but SkinTyte® has unique properties that can make it an attractive treatment option for some patients:
Virtually painless
Thanks to its unique use of infrared light and sapphire cooling technology, SkinTyte® causes minimal discomfort compared to some similar treatments.
Proven efficiency
The efficiency of this treatment is backed by research. Clinical results show that this device leads to visible skin tightening.
No risk of redness and scarring
Because this treatment penetrates just below the skin’s surface and because the surface of the skin is kept at a comfortable temperature, patients experience minimal redness and few side effects.
What to Expect During Your SkinTyte® Treatment
Depending on your skin tone, your provider chooses one of three infrared filters. For this treatment, patients are positioned comfortably and given safety glasses to protect their eyes. Because the treatment is comfortable, there is no need for a local anesthetic.
Our medical licensed aestheticians then cleanse your skin, apply a soothing clear gel and glide the handpiece over the target areas. Your skin may feel slightly warm during treatment, and you may feel like you are getting a gentle massage as the light pulses through your skin. To improve the skin’s appearance, a single pass can work in some cases,. however multiple passes will be used for those with significant skin laxity.
A typical SkinTyte® session takes 30 minutes to complete, and most patients will benefit most and have the best results by having at least three sessions spaced several weeks apart. The length of your session will depend on the area being treated, with larger areas of skin requiring more time.
What to Expect After Your SkinTyte® Treatment
Your skin may look slightly pink and feel warm right after treatment. This is normal and should resolve after 20 minutes or so. While uncommon, some patients with fair or sensitive skin may experience mild redness for up to two days. This is why we recommend not scheduling your sessions very close to an important event a day before a big event.
In most cases, patients can resume their usual routine right after treatment. Your skin will be more sensitive, especially to sunlight after treatment, so avoiding direct sun exposure and wearing high-SPF sunscreen in the first two days post-treatment is a must.
With SkinTyte®, patience is key! While you will notice immediate skin tightening temporarily after treatment due to redness and subtle swelling, it takes additional time for your skin to build new collagen in response to treatment, you will see your final results about three to four months after each procedure.
How your SkinTyte® results will look will depend on the severity of your skin laxity and your skin’s response to treatment. But most patients notice visible improvement in the look and feel of their skin for up to a year.
Maintaining Your SkinTyte® Results
The results from SkinTyte® won’t last forever, but there are ways to keep your results for longer. Protecting your skin from the sun and environmental toxins can help prolong your results. Use products that contain SPF and antioxidants.
To enhance your skin’s collagen production, you can also try skincare containing vitamin C, peptides and retinol. These are proven to promote tighter, smoother and more youthful skin. Staying healthy with a balanced diet, physical activity and by limiting alcohol and tobacco can also keep your skin in prime health for long-lasting results.
Of course, to enjoy the skin-tightening benefits of this treatment for years to come, you can also schedule regular treatments once or twice a year.
