Micropeel

Throughout your lifetime, your skin goes through numerous changes, some of which have undesirable outcomes. Many of these changes result from your body’s gradual inability to regenerate new, healthy skin cells and shed dead or damaged cells as quickly as it once could. Because of this, fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation and unflattering textures can eventually become defining features of your face. You don’t want your complexion to be dull and lifeless, particularly when you feel anything but those things — thankfully, there is a quick and easy solution that can give you back your glow.

Our medical Micropeel is a three-step, no-downtime clinical procedure combining dermaplaning (physical exfoliation), chemical exfoliation and cryogenic therapy to reduce signs of photoaging, fine lines, wrinkles, dullness and visible skin imperfections. You will leave feeling hydrated, glowing and clean. The medical-grade chemicals used are safe and effective and are customized to your skin type and needs.

If you’re ready to revive your skin with a Micropeel, please contact ERASE Medispa & Terrasse Aesthetic Surgery at 847-234-2400 or visit our contact page.

What Is a Micropeel?

All three steps of the Micropeel work well as stand-alone treatments, but when combined, they provide the ultimate rejuvenating experience. During a Micropeel, your skin is both physically exfoliated and chemically exfoliated to remove dead skin cells and stimulate collagen production. What makes it truly unique among peels is the final step: frozen CO2 application.

Dermaplaning: During this step, a sterile blade is used to remove dead skin cells and debris from the skin surface. The blade is gently scraped in an upward motion across the treatment area. In addition to its exfoliating effect, Dermaplaning also removes vellus hair (“peach fuzz”) and helps stimulate cell regeneration. This step delivers smoother, brighter skin and primes the area for chemical exfoliation.

Chemical exfoliation: In step two, a light chemical peel is applied to the skin. Using a formula of alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) customized based on your unique needs, the peel safely removes the outer layer of old and damaged skin cells to resurface the skin. The AHA solution is typically composed of either glycolic or lactic acid. The chemical peel also helps stimulate collagen production to improve hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, uneven skin texture and other imperfections.

Cryogenic therapy: During the final step, a CO2 rollerball, or similar device, is moved rapidly across the treated area in even, circular motions. Cryogenic therapy relieves inflammation, fights bacteria and cools the skin. This finishing freezing treatment leaves your skin feeling alert and refreshed while promoting healing, reducing pores and boosting your cell turnover rate.

We also offer The Micropeel Plus, a treatment combining manual exfoliation, steaming, extractions and chemical exfoliation. The Micropeel Plus is designed to reduce acne irritation, keep problematic skin clear of breakouts, help correct environmental skin damage, refine pore appearance and improve rough texture, blotchiness and uneven tone.

Ideal Candidates for Micropeel

The Micropeel is an excellent procedure for treating a number of skin conditions. You may be a candidate for a Micropeel if you have any of the following:

  • Fine lines
  • Oily skin
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Redness
  • Dry skin
  • Sun-damaged skin
  • Dull complexion

Micropeels are suitable for men and women of most skin types and tones. During your private consultation, an ERASE MediSpa specialist will assess the needs of your skin and determine whether a Micropeel is the best treatment to meet your cosmetic goals.

The Micropeel Procedure

During your Micropeel procedure, you’ll sit comfortably in one of our offices while your skin specialist customizes the treatment based on your skin concerns and goals. Once the correct peel formula is chosen and your skin is cleansed and dried, the dermaplaning process will begin. The surgical blade will be moved in a light scraping motion across your skin. Although this may sound intimidating, dermaplaning involves no pain or discomfort and is completely safe when done by an experienced practitioner.

After dermaplaning, a specialized AHA formula will be applied to your face and left on for a short period. The solution will gradually exfoliate and decongest pores. You may feel a slight tingle or stinging sensation during this part of the treatment, but this is normal and subsides after a few moments. A neutralizing solution will be applied to your skin to complete this step.

In the final segment of your Micropeel treatment, a ball of frozen carbon dioxide will be moved across the treated area to soothe your skin and refine your complexion. Cryogenic therapy is a relatively cool and refreshing experience and will help mitigate any stinging sensations left from the exfoliating solution. By the end of this phase, your skin will feel noticeably firmer and invigorated.

Micropeel Recovery and Results

A Micropeel is considered a “lunchtime procedure” because it’s quick, noninvasive and you can return to work or other daily activities immediately afterward. Immediately after the treatment, your skin will feel firmer and look more radiant and youthful. Mild redness or swelling may be present in the treated area, but these effects are temporary and will subside shortly after treatment. Protect your skin from the sun as it will be more sensitive and vulnerable to damage.

One week after treatment, your skin will undergo its renewal process and light to moderate peeling may occur. We recommend a series of four to six Micropeels to attain optimal results. The treatment can be repeated once a month, but for patients with sensitive skin, it may be preferable to wait longer between sessions. Once you achieve your desired results, the ERASE Medispa team can help you design a maintenance plan that will sustain your rejuvenated skin for as long as possible. Micropeel results aren’t permanent, but with consistent treatments and a dedicated skincare routine, you can enjoy a smooth and flawless complexion indefinitely.
