What Is Radiesse®?

Radiesse® is a dermal filler that contains synthetic microspheres of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) in a water-based gel. CaHA is made up of phosphate and calcium, which are naturally produced in the body. When injected below the surface of the skin, Radiesse® instantly adds volume to smooth out lines. This initial restoration of volume is later accompanied by a boost in collagen production triggered by the CaHA. The Radiesse® gel and CaHA microspheres are eventually absorbed into the body, but because the new collagen acts as a natural filler, the beneficial effects continue. This gives Radiesse® longer-lasting results than many other dermal fillers.

Ideal Candidates For Radiesse®

Radiesse® is safe for men and women of any skin tone or type. Radiesse® is often used by patients in the age range of 35 to 60, but younger patients may also benefit from this treatment. Ideal Radiesse® candidates are in good health and have practical expectations about how fillers can improve their looks.

Radiesse® is not recommended for those who have a history of acute allergies or anaphylactic reactions, or who are allergic to any ingredients in Radiesse®, including lidocaine. Women who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding may also be advised to delay their Radiesse® treatment until a more suitable date. During an initial consultation, Dr. Terrasse will review your medical history and treatment goals to confirm your candidacy.
