What Is Belotero Balance®?
Belotero Balance® is a dermal filler that’s FDA-approved to treat moderate to severe facial folds and wrinkles. Like many popular dermal fillers — such as Juvéderm® and Restylane® — Belotero Balance® contains hyaluronic acid, a substance found in the body naturally that encourages skin elasticity and hydration. Hyaluronic acid production gradually decreases as the body ages, which results in sags and wrinkles.
When Belotero Balance® is injected under the skin, the hyaluronic acid binds to water to fill lines and wrinkles. Results last until the product is broken down by the body or the filler is dissolved with an enzyme that accelerates the process. While many dermal fillers are formulated with hyaluronic acid, there are slight differences between them all. Belotero Balance® is lightweight compared to other dermal fillers, which makes it ideal for treating areas of the skin that are thin and delicate, where fine lines are prominent.

After an initial discussion regarding your concerns, medical history and expected results, Dr. Terrasse will determine if Belotero Balance® is the most appropriate dermal filler for your needs. He will also identify the optimal injection sites and the amount of product to be used. Once your skin has been cleansed, Dr. Terrasse will administer the Belotero Balance® with a fine needle, and may massage the area to spread the filler out for natural results. The procedure is quick and virtually painless because Belotero Balance® contains the numbing agent lidocaine. Treatment length is dependent on how many injections are required to achieve your desired results, but the procedure is often done in less than 10 minutes.
Belotero Balance® Recovery and Results
There is virtually no downtime after treatment with Belotero Balance®. Patients may return to most normal activities right away, but are advised to avoid intense exercise, heat and sun exposure for up to one day. Swelling and redness may be present immediately after treatment. These unwanted effects should resolve on their own within a week.
Results will be noticeable instantly. The skin where fine lines and wrinkles were visible will appear much smoother, giving your face a more vibrant and youthful appearance overall. How long Belotero Balance® lasts depends on your individual rate of metabolization — how quickly the hyaluronic acid is absorbed by your body. In general, Belotero Balance® may last about six months or more.
