Juvéderm Ultra & Juvéderm Ultra Plus
For the filling of skin and minor soft tissue irregularities, various filler substances are recommended. As this is a rapidly expanding field, new products are being introduced on an ongoing basis. Currently, a variety of specialized products that resemble collagen in form and function— one’s own fat, creamy calcium hydroxyapatite, hyaluronic acid gel, and poly-L-lactic acid gel products are utilized and injected under the skin to help restore a smoother texture by plumping up creases and other sunken areas of the face.
JUVÉDERM ULTRA XC AND JUVÉDERM XC ULTRA PLUS:
All Juvéderm products are hydraulic acid (HA) dermal fillers and are injected into the dermis. Each type of Juvéderm adds volume and smoothes out wrinkles by replenishing natural HA that has been lost. Juvéderm products are created using a process called Hylacross®, which makes it smoother and increases the predictability of results. There are differences between Juvéderm Ultra Plus and Juvéderm Ultra including the fact the Ultra Plus is a more highly cross-linked formula than Ultra, (providing a little more stability and viscosity) thus giving it an enhanced filling ability, is more stable, thicker and absorbs water to a greater degree. This also makes the Ultra formula a little more appropriate for finer lines, thinner areas, and shallower injections. Juvéderm Ultra Plus on average lasts a little bit longer than the Ultra version. Typically Juvéderm Ultra Plus results will last around one year, whereas Juvéderm Ultra results last about 9 months to a year. Juvéderm products are used in the nasolabial folds and marionette lines below the corner of the mouth.
