What Is Sculptra® Aesthetic?
Sculptra® Aesthetic restores the youthful contours of the face by strategically increasing collagen production in specific areas. The active ingredient in Sculptra® Aesthetic is poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a synthetic material that is biocompatible and biodegradable and has been safely used in the medical field for decades. Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, which simply add temporary volume under the skin, Sculptra® Aesthetic offers temporary volume correction as well as collagen production for longer-lasting, more natural results. This gives Sculptra® Aesthetic the ability to rejuvenate deep hollows and creases that cannot be successfully treated with other facial fillers.

Treatments with Sculptra® Aesthetic are performed in-office and can take as little as 10 minutes. To begin, Dr. Terrasse will cleanse your skin and may apply a topical numbing cream to ensure the treatment is comfortable from start to finish. He will then administer the injections with an ultra-fine needle into the predetermined target areas.

Sculptra® Aesthetic injections may result in mild, short-lived bruising, swelling or tenderness. Some patients develop small bumps in the treated area, but these typically flatten over time. Massaging the area a few times per day for the first few weeks can help promote a smooth, natural-looking result. You can resume most gentle daily activities immediately after treatment and use ice packs to minimize discomfort and swelling.
Sculptra® Aesthetic is intended to be used as a series of treatments — usually up to four injection sessions that are booked about three weeks apart. You may see some initial improvements soon after a session, but because the primary benefits of Sculptra® Aesthetic rely on your body’s collagen production processes, the most noticeable results take longer to develop.
