BOTOX^® Treatments

After an evaluation and a discussion of the desired goals, potential benefits as well as possible risks from the use of BOTOX^®, Dr. Terrasse may administer this FDA approved product to help control overactive muscles of the face and neck that may be causing excessive wrinkling of the overlying skin. A 10-minute office procedure, BOTOX^® injections are used to decrease the appearance of lines between the eyebrows, across the forehead, in the crow’s feet area, and in some cases the area around the mouth and lips and neck. Typically the effects of the treatment are apparent in 3 to 5 days and the improved appearance may persist from 2 to 6 months with the average benefit lasting around three months, when it can be safely readministered. Patients can still frown, smile, or look surprised but with much softer appearing creases and wrinkles.

Injectable Skin Fillers

For the filling of skin and minor soft tissue irregularities, various filler substances are recommended. As this is a rapidly expanding field, new products are being introduced on an ongoing basis. Currently, either collagen, one’s own fat, creamy calcium hydroxyapatite, or hyaluronic acid gel products are utilized and injected under the skin to help restore a smoother texture by plumping up creases and other sunken areas of the face.

Spider Vein Sclerotherapy

Using solutions that cause collapse and fading of unsightly veins of the legs and thighs, Dr. Terrasse performs minor injection treatments to minimize their appearance. Minimal downtime is necessary but multiple treatments may be indicated to achieve maximum benefit. Sometimes laser treatments may be also utilized to complete the fading process.

Tattoo Lightening/Removal

Utilizing state-of-the-art laser technology, abnormal skin pigmentation and tattoos can be lightened and incrementally reduced in appearance. Typically this takes a series of treatments and in the case of chronic hyperpigmentation, treatments repeated at intervals, as well as topical creams, may be necessary to maintain the result.
