What are the office hours and when does Dr. Terrasse perform surgery?
The office is normally open between 9am and 5pm, Monday through Friday, but frequently Dr. Terrasse arranges evening or Saturday hours to help accommodate patients with special needs. In order to keep the schedule as flexible as possible for patients and their families, each day he allows time for surgery as well as for evaluating patients.

What is my consultation going to be like?
Dr. Terrasse and his staff strive to maintain a friendly, yet professional rapport with his patients by mixing education and humor with attention to detail and careful technique. Dr. Terrasse’s patients receive his full personal attention beginning with their initial pre-operative evaluation and discussion, through surgery, and in all post-operative care. His practice offers complimentary skin care evaluations by a licensed aesthetician and a full scope of aesthetic skin care products and treatment options. Computer imaging is also available and used in surgical planning.

What non-surgical procedures are available if I do not need surgery yet?
Through our Skin Care Center, refinements MediSpa, under Dr. Terrasse’s supervision, his licensed aesthetician offers a full spectrum of services. These services include skin evaluations, skin care products, facials, microdermabrasion, micropeels, waxing, and counseling on make-up application. In addition, Dr. Terrasse performs BOTOX® evaluations and treatments, collagen and fat injections, sclerotherapy for spider veins as well as laser treatments for skin enhancement, treatment of vascular lesions and hyperpigmentation, and for tattoo lightening and removal.

What should I do and what should I avoid in order to prepare for my surgery?
Dr. Terrasse will give you both verbal and written instructions pertaining to your specific surgical procedure. These will include where and when to arrive prior to your procedure, what to bring, what to leave at home, whom to have accompany you, estimates of time needed, and medications to take pre-operatively as well as medications and products to avoid prior to your operation. In general, he will ask you to avoid any potentially blood-thinning agents such as aspirin, Bufferin, Motrin, Advil, and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, herbs, and high dose vitamins. In addition, patients are reminded that smoking is not only detrimental to one’s overall health, but it can cause significant surgical wound healing problems. You will also be given reminders about preoperative diet restrictions if there are any.

What hospitals or facilities does Dr. Terrasse utilize?
Dr. Terrasse is on the staff of multiple excellent and fully accredited hospitals and outpatient surgical centers including Lake Forest Hospital, Highland Park Hospital, Evanston Hospital, Glenbrook Hospital, Condell Medical Center, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Shriners Hospital, and HealthSouth Surgical Center at Hawthorn. Wherever your procedure is scheduled, please rest assured that you will be taken care of by professional caring individuals who are committed to providing you with a comfortable, confidential, and extremely safe experience. As most of the procedures performed for aesthetic purposes are not covered by insurance, he will try to plan your procedure with cost-effectiveness in mind as well as your need for a safe and state-of-the-art facility.

What type of anesthesia will I need and will I be hospitalized overnight?
Dr. Terrasse will advise you of the most appropriate type of anesthesia to be utilized for your procedure and whether it be performed under local anesthesia, twilight (intravenous conscious sedation) anesthesia, or general anesthesia, and whether it is an outpatient minor surgery, outpatient overnight stay surgery or multiple day hospital inpatient surgery- your experience will be planned with your individual needs as the prime consideration. Prescriptions for post-operative control of discomfort are either given to you in advance or called in to the pharmacy of your choice and in certain situations, Dr. Terrasse may even utilize a post-operative pain control pump for maximum comfort.

What payment options are there?
Payment for services rendered as an office procedure are due at the time of service. Fees for Aesthetic Surgery are due 2 weeks before surgery to properly reserve the operative time for you. Payment can be made by cash, money order, check, or credit card (VISA /MasterCard). We have various financing options available as well that can be discussed with you by our Patient Coordinator.
