Brow lift/Forehead Lift
The forehead area can be tightened and raised to help restore the proper position of the eyebrows or muscle adjustments can be made to help decrease the wrinkling of the forehead and minimize frown lines. This can be achieved either through endoscopic techniques that place the small incisions behind the hairline, or if hairline position needs to be adjusted, the surgical approach can be made at the hairline. This type of procedure can sometimes be performed at the same time as other facial rejuvenation procedures to optimize the results. Usually brow lifts are performed under local anesthesia with sedation.

Chemical Peels
The controlled effects of solutions applied carefully to wrinkled skin can result in smoother, fresher appearing skin. Ranging from minor peels to more aggressive techniques the recovery period can range from no downtime to 7 to 10 days before camouflage cosmetics can be worn. Usually the results of the more aggressive techniques are more long lasting.

Computer Imaging
Digital photographs are taken and special computer programs are used to make adjustments to the images. These morphing techniques are used to help visualize the problem as well as the proposed alterations to help insure that the patient’s concerns are being addressed and the goals are realistic.

Ear Reshaping (Otoplasty)
Whether due to a congenital deformity or because of trauma, ear tissue can be modified to improve the shape, size, prominence, and overall appearance of the ears. This procedure can be performed as early as 5 years of age, when ear size and shape is nearly adult size, as an outpatient procedure. Incisions are usually hidden on the back surface of the ears where cartilage sculpting is performed. The more pleasing aesthetics of the new ear form can avoid years of harsh ridicule from others.

Endoscopic Techniques
Many cosmetic procedures can be performed using techniques that use tiny cameras placed under the skin to visualize the underneath tissue well while using smaller incisions placed somewhat away from the more obvious positions. Dr. Terrasse then carefully maneuvers surgical instruments while viewing the images on a video monitor. These techniques can be used in some operations that do not require long incisions and can help decrease downtime and minimize scarring.

Eyelid Lift (Blepharoplasty)
Frequently the eye area ages more rapidly than other facial skin because of years of squinting, sun exposure, and facial animation. The rejuvenation of the skin and soft tissue around the eyes can give a more rested, refreshed, and youthful appearance. Outpatient eyelid surgery can remove or reposition excess fat and drooping skin, minimize bags, and tighten skin and is often done under local anesthesia with sedation. Sometimes modifying the angle of the eyelid tilt or simple techniques of eyelid skin rejuvenation can restore the facial harmony that makeup is unable to.

Face lift/Neck lift (Rhytidectomy)
There are multiple approaches and techniques available to improve the contour and smoothness of the face, cheeks, jawline, and neck. Better harmony of the units of the face and neck is the goal while addressing both the underlying laxity of supporting structures and layers as well as the looseness of the overlying skin. These outpatient procedures are performed under sedation or general anesthesia. The trend now is to offer less extensive procedures at younger ages to help preserve a nice facial balance.

Facial Implants/Fat Grafting
Sometimes materials from other sources can be utilized for a range of purposes such as to smooth lines, fill defects, and augment the contours of the skin, face, and nose. Among the most common is the use of small silicone implants in the chin area or cheek bone area when more major bone surgery is not desired or indicated.

Laser Skin Resurfacing
Sun damaged, weathered, and aging skin can be made to look fresher, smoother, and more even-toned through the use of various lasers (carbon dioxide and erbium) and other light-based treatments. These methods result in a healing processes that increase the collagen in the skin, help level out the irregularities, tighten skin, and give it a more vibrant, youthful appearance. Recovery depends on the type of laser or technology, degree of rejuvenation attempted, and the individual’s skin type. Frequently there is a period of time where camouflage cosmetics are used to give the healing pink-appearing skin a chance to fade and recover.

Nasal Refinement (Rhinoplasty)
Nasal size and shape can be modified by the removal of tissue, the addition of grafts, the rearrangement of cartilage and skin, and the careful placement of internal sutures. Individual goals are developed based on patient desires, anatomy, ethnicity, and gender. Some methods use only inside hidden incisions and others may require small incisions on the skin. Airway and breathing problems can be addressed, if necessary, during this surgery. A natural, harmonious look is Dr. Terrasse’s goal.

Scar Revision
Some imperfections in the skin can be improved with techniques that range from minor peels and microdermabrasion to more involved excision and rearrangement. Since most scars take at least a year to mature, fade, and reach their best condition, surgical scar revision is more commonly done after the skin has been given ample opportunity and time to heal properly on its own. At times, minor interventions may be performed earlier to optimize the healing process. Scar revision techniques may be advised to help make scars appear less obvious or to improve their texture and are frequently done under local anesthesia alone.

Skin Cancer Treatment
The removal of benign skin lesions or cancers such as basal cell cancer, squamous cell cancer, and melanoma from prominent areas of the face and body and the optimal camouflage of such procedures is frequently handled best by Plastic Surgeons who understand both the importance of removing and fully treating the disorder and the issues of appearance and aesthetics. Some skin cancers can be removed enlisting the help of a pathologist who analyzes the tissue at the time it is removed to help ensure completeness of treatment and minimizing the removal of healthy tissue. Most of the procedures use local anesthesia and are considered minor surgery and billable to insurance.
